👋 Welcome to Auckland Schools' Debating Senior Open 2020

Welcome to Auckland Schools' Debating Senior Open for 2020. All debates for this grad will be taking online via Yaatly (link to Yaatly).

Debates in Senior Open are a mix of prepared, advised subject and limited preparation. Prepared debates start at 4:30pm. The motions for advised subject and limited preparation debates will be announced at 4:30pm with debates starting at 5:30pm. Teams should check-in at least 15 minutes before the start or motion announcement time. 

During preparation time, students may have between 3 and 5 students in the prep room. Students may not communicate with anyone else besides their team and may not use the internet for research.

  • Round 2 - Tuesday 23 June (Advised Subject)
  • Round 3 - Tuesday 28 July (Advised Subject)
  • Round 4 - Tuesday 11 August (Limited Preparation)
  • Octo Finals - Tuesday 18 August
  • Quarter/Semi Finals - Tuesday 25 August
  • Grand Final - Tuesday 1 September

Getting Help

Notice of a default after Monday 12pm, the day of the debate must be made by email and by calling the grade convenor. Any requests after Wednesday 2pm will be considered a default without notice and the team's status in the competition will be placed under
